OnlineTimes.com (the online version of The Times, London) ranks the University of Oxford School of Medicine as the best in Britain. The school offers both four- and six-year courses. The four-year course is a standard medical school program for those with an undergraduate degree in bioscience or chemistry. The six-year course is offered to students fresh out of high school. The first three years are spent studying medical science, for which students are awarded a bachelor's degree. The last three years are spent in an intensive clinical course. The primary focus of both the four-year and the six-year program is science. Oxford's School of Medicine offers seven places annually to overseas students. Interviews are compulsory.

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) is ranked the number one medical school in India by OutlookIndia.com. The Indian Parliament created the New Delhi-based school as an institution of national importance not long after India gained her independence from Great Britain. In addition to the expected medical school courses and training, AIIMS hosts Indian's National Poisons Information Center, an Electron Microscope facility and a Stem Cell research facility. The school also has an AIDS Information and Training Cell.

Scotland's University of Edinburgh College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine is ranked the third best medical school in Britain by OnlineTimes.com, which makes it the best medical school in Scotland. The school offers four undergraduate degree programs, as well as master's degrees, a Ph.D. program, and funding for post-graduate research. Eight research facilities, in areas such as neuroscience, diseases and genetics are available at the University of Edinburgh, in addition to a handful of associated research groups such as the Center for Infectious Diseases.
