The New York School of Interior Design offers associate's, bachelor's and master's degree programs in interior design. Undergraduate curriculum emphasizes design history, professional design concepts and techniques as well as liberal arts studies. The graduate program is divided into three degree tracks: a professional MFA, which is designed for students who have not previously studied design; a post-professional MFA, which is intended to provide students who have an undergraduate degree in interior design with specialized training; and a Master of Professional Studies, which prepares design professionals to create and maintain sustainable interior spaces.

Boston Architectural College offers both a bachelor's and master's degree in interior design. The coursework for both degree programs is divided into three phases: foundation studies, advanced studies and a design project or thesis. Students in both degree programs work in supervised paid positions at area interior design firms during the day and attend classes at night. Students must work a total of 4,500 hours to earn 45 credits in design initiation, design implementation, construction and administration.

The Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania offers both a BFA and an MFA in interior design.
