The Academy of Design at the RCC Institute of Technology features two paths for future interior designers. The two-year certificate program teaches basic design skills in six 12-week blocks. Interior design students complete liberal arts courses as part of the three-year diploma in interior design. In their second and third years, diploma students advance to classes in 3D design concepts, computer aided drafting and architectural detailing. Humber College confers a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Interior Design. Students must complete courses in interior detailing, sustainable practices and project management. This Ontario school also requires undergraduates to complete at least one liberal arts course per semester. Humber College allows interior design students to work full-time with local firms and designers after their third year.
