Lean Six Sigma Colleges in Texas

Six Sigma, a management strategy developed and trademarked by Motorola, has been applied to numerous aspects of business. This strategy has been combined with Lean manufacturing to produce Lean Six Sigma, a process for identifying and eliminating wastefulness and for optimizing efficiency. The ultimate goal of Lean Six Sigma is to improve quality while reducing costs. GE, 3M, Delta and Honeywell are just a few examples of corporations that have utilized the Six Sigma strategy in one form or another.

  1. University of Houston

    • The University of Houston has developed the Texas Management Assistance Center to help teach management strategies to students bound for positions with companies along the East Texas coastal region. Internships with a number of participating local Houston businesses are available.

    • Three campuses in the University of Texas system offer a Lean Six Sigma certification program. The registration fee covers the two weeks of classes plus the certification upon completion of the final exam and project.
