The 5-week Yale Summer Conservatory for Actors provides participants with an intensive production to basic acting techniques. It is based on the acting curriculum of Yale's drama school and is divided into sections that focus on a particular aspect of acting. Sections include play analysis, acting class, voice and speech, improvisation, and mask, movement and scene study. A faculty-to-student ratio of four students to every faculty member ensures that every student gets personal attention during the program. Students are selected based on academic history, acting experience, and personal statements and recommendations. They do not need to audition as part of the application process. The summer conservatory accepts high school juniors and seniors, college undergraduates and postgraduates who wish to grow professionally as actors.
