The University of Michigan located in Ann Arbor, Michigan offers a summer program for teens interested in learning about the school's art, architecture and music programs. The programs are available for teens that have completed the ninth grade and above. The school offers a "Portfolio Day" program where students spend a half-day on campus learning about the school's art program. There is also a bachelor of fine arts (BFA) prep two-week course where students spend two weeks on campus in a residential program immersed in campus society and learn about the typical classes and experience of students enrolled in BFA program. The school also offers additional programs for teens including a new program called "In the Middle" to introduce middle school students to college life.

Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia has an ID Gaming Academy for students ages 13 to 18. The academy is a summer intensive program that lasts two weeks. The program focuses on video game development. Students enrolled in the summer intensive program are invited to live on campus for the two weeks of the program. Students learn about 3-D modeling, game programming and design. The students are allowed to use materials from participation in the program as a part of their portfolio.

The University of Pennsylvania has pre-college courses it offers teens. The courses are worth one to two college credits and students can use the credits if they decide to enroll at the university. Classes last about six weeks in summer and they are taught by University of Pennsylvania professors. Students are treated like enrolled college students and they have homework, midterms and final exams.
