Clinical Nurse Specialist Schools

Clinical nursing specialists are registered nurses who have advanced training working with a specific type of patient or in a particular field of medicine, such as pediatrics or mental health. To enter the field, nurses must complete a master's degree in nursing, according to the National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists. Carrying the approval of the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, a number of public colleges and universities throughout the United States offer clinical nurse specialist programs.

The university also offers clinical nursing master's degrees in cardiovascular medicine, gerontology, health policy, oncology, pediatrics and neonatal health care. With full-time study, the programs typically can be completed in two years. Classes are typically held only two days per week to accommodate the schedules of nurses who continue to work while pursuing the master's degree.
