    • Northwestern University is a private university located north of Chicago in Evanston, IL. The Medill School of Journalism is a competitive program with 45 full-time faculty members and 640 full-time students. The undergraduate program allows students to study in a liberal arts program while studying journalism. The school has been around since 1921 and placed second in the 2010 Intercollegiate Hearst Journalism Awards program for writing.     University of Missouri

    • The University of Missouri is a public university located in central Missouri in Columbia. The Missouri School of Journalism was started in 1908 and was the world's first journalism school. Students can choose from six programs: Convergence Journalism, Magazine Journalism, Photojournalism, Print and Digital News, Radio-Television Journalism or Strategic Communication. The School of Journalism offers connections to many professional organizations housed at the school, such as The Association of Health Care Journalists, Investigative Reporters and Editors and the National Newspaper Association.

    Arizona State University

    • Arizona State University is a public university located in Tempe, AZ. The Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication allows students to focus on a liberal-arts based education while following different journalism units throughout each of their four years in the program. The school won first place in the broadcast news category and third in the writing category for the Hearst Journalism Awards Program in 2010, which is often described as the "Pulitzer of Journalism," according to the Hearst website.

    • The University of Maryland is a public university located in College Park, MD, about 30 minutes between Baltimore and Washington D.C. The Philip Merrill College of Journalism offers small class sizes and a faculty with six Pulitzer prize winners.
