Let the computer be your easel and software be your palette with an associate degree in graphic design from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. Coursework includes classes such as color theory, art direction, painting, digital image manipulation, typography, life drawing, art direction, drawing, perspective and production procedures. Students must also take general education coursework such as English composition, history and introduction to sociology.
Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED. The Art Institute also requires students in its online program to have the Adobe Creative Suite software package (Photoshop, Dreamweaver, InDesign), Windows Media Player, Acrobat, Microsoft Office, internet access and email.

Students interested in becoming art gallery owners, museum docents or art dealers may enroll in Delaware State University's bachelor of arts in art management program. The four-year program includes general coursework such as survey of mathematics, lifetime fitness and wellness and English composition, plus art classes in sculpture, watercolor painting, arts management, computer imaging, graphic design, intermediate drawing, introduction to painting and 3-D design. Students enhance their education with two internships in their senior year, in an art gallery and a community arts organization.
Delaware requires students to have a high school diploma and minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0. SAT or ACT scores are also required. Community service experience, demonstrated art talents and demonstrated leadership ability are recommended, but not required.

Further your art education with a master's degree in art history from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. The two-year program includes topics in early medieval art, gothic art, the Baroque artist in Italy, modern art, the play of realism in the Northern Renaissance, vernacular architecture, great themes in art history and history of Islamic art and architecture. Students support classroom study by completing internships at local museums or historical societies and by conducting teaching assistantships.
Program applicants must have a bachelor's degree (in any field). Prior to graduation, all students must complete an image examination, essay or publishable paper and an oral examination. Candidates must also be proficient in French, German or Italian.
