In general, the responsibility of a journalist is to gather information, prepare stories and then report those news stories to the public. If you are interested in pursuing a career in journalism, you should first attend a university or college to get a journalism degree. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, most employers prefer individuals with a bachelor's degree in journalism or mass communication, in addition to school newspaper or internship experience.
