LPN Programs in the Evenings in Chicago

The job market continues to grow in the field of nursing at nearly every level. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics expects jobs for licensed practical nurses to continue to grow at a rate of 21 percent through 2018. LPN training programs usually prepare students for certification examinations through vocational programs. Several schools in the Chicago area offer LPN programs on convenient evening schedules.

Its LPN program requires that students complete 1300 clock hours of training and testing. The program emphasizes basic nursing science and the social and behavioral aspects of nursing so that graduates can work in any health care setting. Course work comprises seven areas of study: medical-surgical nursing, basic nursing, anatomy and physiology, pediatric nursing, geriatric nursing, medication administration and pharmacology, and obstetric nursing. Preparing students to pass the National Council of Licensure Examination (NCLEX-PN) receives special attention.
