The Northwestern Institute of Health and Technology is a vocational school offering evening LPN classes. Its LPN program requires that students complete 1300 clock hours of training and testing. The program emphasizes basic nursing science and the social and behavioral aspects of nursing so that graduates can work in any health care setting. Course work comprises seven areas of study: medical-surgical nursing, basic nursing, anatomy and physiology, pediatric nursing, geriatric nursing, medication administration and pharmacology, and obstetric nursing. Preparing students to pass the National Council of Licensure Examination (NCLEX-PN) receives special attention.
