Lower Columbia College is in Longview, Washington, 51 miles outside of Portland. The school offers an LPN to RN program which takes 125 credit hours to complete. Pacific Lutheran University is in Tacoma, Washington, 144 miles outside of Portland. The school offers a program for LPNs to become RNs. Interested applicants must apply to the university and the school of nursing. Applicants must have completed a licensed practical nurse program and be eligible to take the LPN license exam. Prerequisites for the RN program include microbiology, human anatomy and physiology, chemistry, psychology and development across the lifespan. After completing prerequisites, students will begin the RN program, which is completed in five semesters. Core degree classes include pathological human processes, pharmacology and therapeutic modalities, adult and mental health, nursing research and informatics and culturally congruent healthcare.
