HVAC Apprenticeship Programs in Washington

HVAC technicians install and maintain heating, air-conditioning and refrigeration systems within commercial and residential buildings. While it is common for apprenticeship programs to include paid training as part of program requirements, some of the community colleges and technical schools that offer HVAC programs in the state of Washington instead give HVAC graduates work credits towards licensure.
  1. Lake Washington Technical College

    • Founded in 1949, Lake Washington Technical College is a vocational college in the metropolitan Seattle, Washington city of Kirkland. Today the two-year college’s academic catalog includes 38 associate degree and certificate programs. Lake Washington also features apprenticeship programs in plumbing, sheet metal technician and in heating, air-conditioning and refrigeration. HVAC students must complete 144 hours of coursework at Lake Washington in tandem with full-time paid apprenticeship work.

    Clover Park Technical College

    • Established in 1942 as a vocational school, today Clover Park Technical College is a public two-year technical school in the eastern Washington city of Lakewood. The college features certificate and associate degree programs of study in areas ranging from accounting to welding technology. Clover Park’s selection of apprenticeship programs includes the HVAC: Heating & Air Conditioning Refrigeration/Service Technician program. The four-quarter curriculum features courses like Basic Refrigeration, PLC Programming and Electrical Circuits, in addition required on-campus training. A state of Washington approved training program, Clover Park HVAC graduates will be credited with 1,178 hours of work experience towards licensure upon completion of program requirements.

    Renton Technical College

    • Founded in 1942, Renton Technical College is a public technical college in the greater Seattle area city of Renton, Washington. Today the two-year college awards diploma, certificate and associate degrees in more than 100 areas of study. The Heat and Frost Insulators and Asbestos Workers apprenticeship program is one of several work training programs hosted at Renton. A four-year program, students must complete 160 hours of classroom study at the college each year, in addition to 8,000 hours of paid training in the field. Renton optionally allows students to obtain a degree.
