The school has a clinical coordinator arrange all clinical internships. Clinical internships are 12 months and available in two specializations. Students study their specialty, cardiovascular ultrasound or general vascular ultrasound, for the entire 12 months. Internships can be completed in state or out of state.     • Tacoma Community College is two-and--a-half hours from Portland. The school offers an associate program in diagnostic medical sonography. Graduates of the program earn an associate of applied science in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Students attend full-time and complete the course in 21 months. Applicants must submit a Health, Justice and Human Services application along with an application to the college (if not already enrolled). Application requirements include attendance at an information session, eight hours of direct patient care, eight hours of job shadowing and completion of prerequisite courses.
