At the University of Portland, students pursuing a professional medical career may earn a Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) or a Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) master's degree. According to the university, these relatively new advanced degrees reflect the "changing demands" of U.S. health care. Upon completion of the DNP degree, graduates will have enough scientific knowledge and practical experience to teach at the clinical level.
