    Missouri Southern State University

    • Missouri Southern State University, located at Joplin, Missouri, offers EMT-basic and EMT-Paramedic instruction that meet national curriculum standards. The EMT-Basic program is a 6-hour program culminating in the national registry examination. Students who successfully pass the national registry exam can apply for the paramedic program. The paramedic program consists of two 12-hour courses followed by a 9-hour course which students must complete in sequence. While the 29-mile drive to classes at Joplin is reasonably short, the process of getting a license in Kansas requires a few more steps. After successfully passing your test and being placed on the National Registry, KBEMS must approve your non-Kansas credentials before issuing your Kansas license.
