Construction Management Schools in Florida

If you are interested in pursuing a career in construction management, a wide variety of academic paths available in Florida can help you achieve your goal. Several Florida universities offer certificate or degree-granting programs in construction management. Through classroom studies and internships, these programs prepare students for entry-level careers in the building construction trade.



Students also can continue their education by pursuing a graduate degree. Graduate programs are available in Florida that allow students to earn a master's, doctorate or even a Juris Doctor degree in building construction.
  1. Florida Atlantic University

    • Florida Atlantic University, established in 1964, has seven campuses throughout Florida, including locations in Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale, Harbor Beach and Jupiter. Each campus offers construction management and advanced construction management certificate programs. The construction management certificate program consists of five courses that instruct students on how to own and operate a construction company. Course topics include business management, financial management, safety and risk management, estimating and marketing.

      For current construction management certificate holders, the advanced certificate program focuses more in-depth on construction business practices. FAU also offers additional construction management courses including a two-day continuing education course.

    Florida International University

    • Florida International University offers graduate and undergraduate degree programs in construction management. Undergraduate students are able to earn a bachelor of science in construction management. The four-year program, accredited by the American Council for Construction Education, prepares students for entry-level management or supervisory roles in the construction industry. The curriculum includes coursework in site management, safety, cost estimating, economic planning and structural design.

      FIU students may also complete a one-year graduate program to earn a master of science in construction management. These programs are available at the Modesto Maidique campus in Miami, the Biscayne Bay campus in North Miami and the Pembroke Pines Center in Broward County. Students also can complete the master of science program online.

    University of North Florida

    • The University of North Florida, in Jacksonville, provides students with ACCE-accredited baccalaureate and graduate building construction management programs. The undergraduate program consists of a management-oriented technical curriculum. Students take courses in business, building construction and computer concepts, and also participate in a construction management internship.

      The course selection allows students to concentrate in housing and land development, heavy civil construction, commercial construction, industrial construction or green construction. Students earn a bachelor of science in building construction. The University of North Florida also offers students the opportunity to earn a master of business administration in construction management.

    University of Florida

    • At the University of Florida, students who major in construction management have a variety of ACCE-accredited degree options. The undergraduate degree leads students to a bachelor of science in building construction. Students complete courses in planning, estimating, finance and project management. The program also requires students to participate in a surveying laboratory course along with a construction capstone project.

      Many internship opportunities are available for students in the undergraduate program. Students may also pursue a master of building construction, master of science in building construction, master of international construction management or a Ph.D. degree. The University of Florida also offers concurrent degree programs for students to earn the bachelor of science in conjunction with a building construction master's degree. Joint Juris Doctor programs are also available.
