Colleges in Henderson, Kentucky

Located on the banks of the Ohio River, along the Indiana border, Henderson is in the area often referred to as "Kentuckiana." Henderson was the home of famed ornithologist John Audubon. In addition to the local community college, there are several postsecondary institutions either in Henderson or just across the border in Indiana.

    • A small, two-year college, Henderson Community College opened their doors in 1960. A charter member of the University of Kentucky Community College System, the school's enrollment hovers around 2,200 in their academic program with an additional 4,000 via continuing education. Degrees are offered in agriculture, business, clinical lab technology, dental hygiene, nursing and welding technology. Henderson has and "open door" policy allowing admission if the candidate has a high school degree or a GED. General admission does not guarantee admission to the nursing or dental programs.

    Murray State University‎

    • Selected by Forbes magazine in 2010 as one of "America's Best Colleges," Murray State University enrolls around 10,000 students annually in graduate and undergraduate programs. The esteemed university houses a satellite college in Henderson where students have full access to the schools numerous degrees. Murray offers several schools of study including the College of Business, The College of Education, The College of Health Sciences and Human Services, the College of Humanities and Fine Arts, the School of Agriculture and the College of Science Engineering and Technology. The Murray State Racers compete as a NCAA Division I program in the Ohio Valley Conference.

    University of Southern In‎diana

    • Located in Evansville, Indiana, The University of Southern Indiana is located just 10 miles north of Henderson making it a major part of the community. Founded in 1965 the school is a regional branch of Indiana State University. USI offers a few associate degrees, but the focus of the campus are the nearly 75 baccalaureate degree programs. Graduate degrees are available in business, communication, education, health administration, nursing and social work. Enrollment is around 10,500 per year, with an approximate class size of 25. The Screaming Eagles compete as an NCAA Division II program in the Great Lake Valley Conference.
