    • The largest university system in Houston, the University of Houston is a public university with a student body of more than 37,000 studying in over 300 undergraduate, master's and doctoral programs. The university boasts a diverse student population, more than 40 research centers ,and multiple sports and student organization opportunities. Of note are the University of Houston's programs in entrepreneurship, medical law and space architecture.

    Texas Southern University

    • Texas Southern University is one of the United States' largest historically black universities. The nearly 10,000 students study in almost 100 undergraduate, graduate and professional programs. Texas Southern is the only Houston university offering an urban planning degree and one of only two schools in the nation whose airway sciences program has a flight simulator. The university is also noted for its law, pharmacy and teacher education programs. More than 80 student organizations, an active alumni group and a campus close to museums, medical centers and urban Houston provide enrichment.

    Rice University

    • Rice University is a small, private university serving approximately 5,500 undergraduate and graduate students. The selective school, with more than 70 percent of its students coming from the top 5 percent of their high school graduating class, offers a wide variety of degree programs.
