Bath Spa University offers unique courses designed for a unique campus experience. The Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Production course offers a chance to study in a professional environment. Venues for this unique experience include Theatre Royal, Bath, Ustinov Studio and The Egg, as well as Bath Spa University's University Theatre, The Michael Tippett Centre and Burdall's Yard in Bath city centre.
The Theatre Royal is one of the most prestigious theaters in the UK outside of London, and students are exposed to all disciplines including lighting, set design, props, costuming, production management and special effects. Bath Spa University also offers courses in Commercial Music, Songwriting, Music Technology, Performing Arts and Scriptwriting. A.C.T. offers a Master of Fine Arts Program in Acting. This program is for students who want to further their acting careers. A highly competitive graduate program, A.C.T offers a rigorous three-year course of training to students selected through nationwide auditions. Acting at A.C.T offers comprehensive training in rehearsal and performance of classical and contemporary works. The spring after completing three years of intensive actor training, students showcase productions to be presented to an audience of professional theater and film directors, agents and casting directors in New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles -- opportunities to network with industry professionals and casting agents to discuss the future of their careers. Funding from federal, state and A.C.T. sources are available for the M.F.A program.
Known for its multi-disciplinary environment, The Boston Conservatory offers fully accredited graduate and undergraduate programs in music, dance and theater requiring completion of 38 credit hours of music and musical theater in addition to dance, acting and general education. The Conservatory showcases more than 200 performances each year by students, faculty and guest artists. Students are evaluated by the faculty on their development as artists and are either promoted to advanced training after their second years or may be dismissed from the program, in order to demonstrate a focus on not only artistic preparedness, but the importance of their education as an actor in training. The Boston Conservatory also offers a two year Masters of Music in Musical Theatre.
