The Boise State University College of Arts and Science is the largest college on campus. Twenty-three nationally recognized professors make up the art department staff. The department offers multiple clubs and leagues, including a Graphic Design and Illustration league for those particularly interested in creating and studying digital art. Students will graduate with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design, Illustration, or Visual arts depending on which focus the student chooses to pursue as he studies digital art.
The University of Idaho at Boise offers two degree options for those interested in digital art, both offered within the College of Art and Architecture. Those wishing to gain a well-rounded art education may prefer the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art. This degree program trains students in graphic design, interaction design, painting, printmaking and sculpture in a studio classroom setting. The other option for design art within this department is the Bachelor of Science in Virtual Technology and Design. As its name implies, this degree program is technology-driven. Students graduate with a finished portfolio to enable an easier transition into the workforce.
Stevens-Henager College's Boise campus offers an Associate of Applied Science in Graphic Arts. The program teaches graphic design, web design, and desktop publishing. Students graduate with a firm foundation to pursue careers in fields such as marketing, web design, and advertising. The option of a bachelor's degree is available online and through other campuses. The associate's degree takes 20 months to complete but can be completed in as few as 15 months.
The ITT Technical Institute located in Boise, Idaho, offers several associate degree options for those interested in digital art. The Computer Drafting and Design program requires students to study in both a laboratory and classroom setting using digital and traditional art mediums to create drafting and design products. Those graduating with this degree will be prepared to translate ideas into digital art work in careers such as mechanical engineering, interior design, and architecture. The Visual Communications program is designed for those geared toward graphic design, multimedia and print communications. This program is for students who desire to use their own creativity rather than create according to a model given to them by an employer.
