The Fine Arts and Fitness Division of Henry Ford Community College in Dearborn offers an associate in arts with a music concentration. It boasts "the largest music program of all two-year colleges in Michigan." Its nine music ensembles are open by audition to community members, in addition to being open to all students. Henry Ford's vocal and instrumental jazz ensembles, choirs and symphonies have performed throughout the United States, as well as in Canada and Europe.
The College of Arts and Sciences at Oakland University in Rochester offers a bachelor of music with concentrations in either music education or performance. The performance concentration options are instrumental, piano or voice. It also offers a bachelor of arts in music and a minor in music. For graduate students, Oakland offers a master of music, with concentrations in conducting, music education, performance and pedagogy. Again, the performance concentration can be in instrumental, piano or voice, and the pedagogy concentration can be in either piano or voice. In addition, it offers a Ph.D. in music education. Oakland's non-degree music options include a Michigan professional teaching certification and a post-baccalaureate music teacher certification.
The Adrian College Music Department offers five different degree programs. Students may select a bachelor of music in performance, a bachelor of music in music education, a bachelor of arts in music, a bachelor of arts in arts management or music or a bachelor of arts in musical theatre. They may also select music as a minor. Adrian's instrumental and vocal ensembles, which include a college choir, concert band, marching band, string ensemble, opera workshop, brass quintet, chamber choir, jazz band, symphony orchestra, musical theatre workshop, community chorus and woodwind quintet, are open to all students.
Andrews University, a Christian university in Berrien Springs, offers a bachelor of arts in music and a bachelor of music in either music education or music performance. For graduate students, Andrews has a master of arts in music and a master of arts in music ministry. It also offers a master of music in music education, performance, conducting or music ministry. On campus, students perform at the Howard Performing Arts Center, "one of the most modern performance facilities in southwest Michigan." Off campus, Andrews University ensembles and choirs tour throughout the world.
