Denver City Performing Arts Colleges

Denver is home to a handful of colleges with performing arts degrees and concentrations. From dancing to theater to music, and with both graduate and undergraduate performing arts programs, these colleges train students to excel in their chosen fields of artistic expression and pursue careers in the entertainment industry.
  1. University of Colorado Denver

    • CU-Denver's College of Arts and Media combines performing arts, visual arts and technical arts in its degree programs. The Department of Music and Entertainment Industry Studies, along with the Department of Theater, Film and Video Production offer bachelor degrees in music performance and a bachelor of arts in Theater, Film and Television. A master's program in recording arts is also available. Music performance art students can supplement their education with classes on music business, music industry and recording arts. Theater students can focus on writing, videography, post-production and theatrical design.

    Metropolitan State College of Denver

    • Denver's Metro State theater program offers a bachelor of arts in theater, a bachelor of arts in musical theater and a bachelor of fine arts in applied theater technology and design. The colleges has a year-long calendar of theatrical productions for students to take part in. The Department of Music educates students on musical theory, history and practice. Degree programs include bachelor of music education, performance, composition and a bachelor of arts in music. Courses can have a specific instrument emphasis, such as guitar, piano or voice, and the degree in musical education prepares students to teach instrumental and choral music in all lower education grades.

    Community College of Denver

    • The Community College of Denver offers several performing arts degrees, including both technical theater and theatrical performance emphases. The colelge has a music performance track, which covers musical fundamentals, private instruction, music theory, ear training and sight-reading. Theatrical classes include acting, stage movement, comedy, play reading and production and theater internships. These programs are not available online, but students seeking admission can find the application form online, along with schedule campus tours, career counseling and financial aid opportunities.
