• Undergraduate civil engineering students at the University of Illinois-Urbana-Champaign complete 133 credits in order to earn a bachelor's degree. The first two years of the program are devoted to the study of physics, math, mechanics and general engineering courses. Juniors and seniors focus on civil and environmental engineering courses and select both a major and concentration within the discipline, such as environmental hydrology and hydraulics, construction engineering and management or structural engineering. • Students interested in pursuing a graduate degree in civil engineering can earn an MSCE (Master of Science in Civil Engineering) degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology. To earn the MSCE degree, students must complete at least 30 credits in six years or less. The degree program offers a thesis or non-thesis option; students selecting the non-thesis option take 18 credits of major course work compared to the 12 required of students in the thesis track.
