The New School is home to three performing arts divisions. Undergraduate and graduate degree coursework is available at the school's Mannes College for music, the New School for Drama and the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. The New School for drama offers advanced level training for aspiring actors, directors and playwrights. The institution's Mannes School of Music offers a curriculum in choral conducting, orchestral conducting and numerous classical instruments.

The Juilliard School of New York City offers college degree programs in dance, drama and music. The school's four-year Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance includes coursework such as dance composition, stagecraft and production, elements of performing and a survey of modern dance. Julliard music students have the option of participating in one of several performance programs, including chamber music, orchestras and jazz ensembles. Inter-divisional degree focuses are available for students interested in hybrid study programs.
