Kentucky Grants & Scholarships

The Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority (KHEAA) sponsors a number of grant and scholarship programs to help make college more affordable for Kentucky students. In an effort to increase enrollment at Kentucky colleges and universities, these programs provide financial support to students who demonstrate academic excellence as well as financial need.
  1. College Access Program

    • The College Access Program is a grant program that provides education funding to Kentucky students who have a demonstrated financial need. Applicants may be enrolled part-time or full-time in an associate's or bachelor's degree program at an accredited Kentucky college or university. To qualify, students must have an expected family contribution of less than $4,617, and the maximum annual award is $1,900.

    Kentucky Tuition Grant

    • The Kentucky Tuition Grant is available to financially needy undergraduates who are enrolled at one of Kentucky's independent colleges or universities. Students enrolled in associate's and bachelor's degree programs at regionally accredited institutions may apply. Annual grant awards range from $200 to $2,964.

    Kentucky Teacher Scholarship

    • The Teacher Scholarship Program provides scholarships to full-time students who are enrolled in an accredited Kentucky teacher certification program at the undergraduate and graduate level. Scholarships are granted on based on academic merit and financial need, and the maximum annual award is $5,000.

    Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship

    • The Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship is awarded to graduating seniors, home-schooled students and GED recipients attending Kentucky colleges and universities. The program provides $1,500 scholarships annually for up to four years to students who demonstrate academic excellence. Applicants must have a minimum 3.5 GPA and score of 1060 or better on the SAT or a GED composite score of 2700 or higher. All applicants must be nominated by a member of their school's or GED program's faculty.

    Early Childhood Development Scholarship

    • The Early Childhood Development Scholarship provides awards of up to $1,800 to Kentucky students who are pursing degrees in early childhood development. Applicants must be enrolled in a maximum of nine credit hours in an accredited associate's or bachelor's degree program for early childhood education or development. Selected students must also work a minimum of 20 hours per week in a participating early childhood education facility in Kentucky.
