Finding money to help pay for college can be challenging for students of any age. For nontraditional college students, scholarship funding can often be scarce. Fortunately, for nontraditional students in Louisiana, there are a number of scholarship resources available that can make the goal of a college degree both attainable and affordable.
  1. Go Grant Scholarship Program

    • The Go Grant is a need-based scholarship that is awarded to students who are 25 or older and are reentering an undergraduate degree program at an accredited Louisiana college or university. Applicants must have been out of school for at least two semesters, qualify for a Federal Pell Grant or be able to demonstrate financial need. Qualifying students may receive up to $2,000 per academic year depending on enrollment status.

    Virginia Pennington Endowed Scholarship

    • Louisiana Tech University's Division of Nursing sponsors a number of scholarships, including the Virginia Pennington Endowed Scholarship, which is intended for nursing students 25 or older. Applicants must be enrolled in their second year of an associate degree program in nursing and have a minimum 2.8 GPA. The annual award amount varies based on funding, and recipients are selected on the basis of academic merit, letters of reference and overall career goals.

    Louisiana Delta Community College Foundation Scholarships

    • Louisiana Delta Community College sponsors several scholarship programs that are available to nontraditional continuing education students. All applicants must be enrolled at least nine credit hours, be working toward an associates degree and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Award amounts vary, and additional eligibility criteria may be required for each scholarship.

    Monroe-West Monroe Business Professional Women Scholarships

    • The Monroe-West Monroe Business and Professional Women (BPW) sponsors several scholarships for nontraditional female students who plan to enroll at an accredited Louisiana college or university. The Monroe-West Monroe BPW Scholarship, the BPW/USA Career Advancement Scholarship and the Agnes Morris Education Scholarship are available to nontraditional female students over the age of 25 who are enrolling in an accredited college or university for the first time or returning to complete their education. Award amounts and eligibility criteria vary for each scholarship.

    Tulane University Continuing Studies Scholarships

    • Tulane University's School of Continuing Studies offers three scholarship awards to nontraditional continuing students who are completing a degree program at the school. Scholarship award amounts vary, and each award has different eligiblity requirements. Scholarships are available only to students who are enrolled on a part-time basis.
