The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, which was established in 1999 to give minority students the opportunity to complete an undergraduate education provides funding for high school seniors who display academic excellence and financial need. Applicants must have a grade point average of 3.0 higher. Each year, several Latino students are offered this grant which guarantees funding to the college of their choice. The application deadline is in January for the following academic year.

MassMutual in partnership with the Hispanic Scholars Fund is committed to providing financial resources to Latino students interested in pursuing higher education and to expand the cultural diversity in school and employment settings. Eligible students receive $5000 dollars to continue their college education. Students must have a 3.0 GPA and be a full-time student at an accredited United States institution. Additionally, students must be majoring in one of the following fields: business, economics, finance, financial planning, management, marketing or sales.

Latino students interested in health care careers have the opportunity to apply for a summer program through Rutgers University in New Jersey. Project Learns goal is to increase the number of minority students in health, mental health, and health policy research. Project Learn is a 10-week summer intensive that offers courses and preparation for students thinking of pursuing health care degrees. The internship provides each qualified student with a $3900 stipend that goes towards tuition and living expenses.
