International School Grants

International educational experiences broaden students' perspectives. While not all students can afford these experiences, the opportunities are open to any who really want them through a number of fellowships, scholarships and grants that can pay for an international education at a prestigious school. Funds are available through government-sponsored organizations, councils, and women's advocacy groups.
  1. The Fulbright Scholarship

    • The Fulbright Scholarships, offered through the Bureau of Cultural Affairs, are funding sources open to students who want to enter an international graduate program. The Fulbright U.S. Student program offers fellowships to study abroad, and the Fulbright Foreign Student Program helps graduate students from abroad conduct research in the United States. The Fulbright mission is to encourage exchanges and dialogue among U.S. students and foreign institutions. Fulbright recipients take on important roles as scholars, teachers, lecturers, artists, philanthropists, cultural ambassadors, human rights advocates and researchers. Many former recipients of these awards have made significant contributions to their fields through the training they received as a result of the Fulbright funding.

    European Council of International Schools

    • The European Council of International Schools (ECIS) offers opportunities to students to obtain an international education. Fellowship Grants for the Advancement of International Education are offered to encourage students to work toward a degree in international education. Stipends are awarded yearly for this program. The Margaret Sanders Foundation International Schools Scholarship Fund awards students with $5,000 to attend an ECIS school. Previous grant recipients include students who attended ACS Hillingdon International School, American International School of Budapest, and the American School in London.

    American Association of University Women

    • The American Association of University Women, or AAUW, is a charitable organization with over 100,000 members nationwide. Its mission is to advocate for equity for women and girls through education, research and philanthropy. The AAUW likes to "break through barriers" by providing opportunities for women who would otherwise be under represented in a variety of disciplines. Through their International Fellowship opportunities, women can receive funding of up to $18,000 to obtain a master's degree, $20,000 for a doctorate fellowship, or $30,000 for a postdoctoral fellowship for studies outside of the United States.
