Dental Hygiene School Grants

There are a variety of educational grants and scholarships available to students who are attending a dental hygiene school. Professional organizations of dentists and dental hygienists are the most abundant sources of dental hygiene school grants at the national level. Dental hygiene scholarships are typically limited to students with a certain GPA, and may also be limited to students of a particular race or ethnicity.
  1. ADHA Institute Scholarships

    • The American Dental Hygienists' Association Institute of Oral Health provides educational grants to students attending dental hygiene school through its scholarship program. There are a variety of scholarships available through the ADHA ranging from $1,000 to $2,000. In order to be eligible, a student must be enrolled in an accredited dental hygiene program at a U.S. institution, must have a grade point average of at least 3.0, must be an active member of the ADHA or Student ADHA, and must have a demonstrable financial need of at least $1,500. ADHA scholarships are open to graduate students as well as undergraduate students. The annual deadline for application is February 1.     ADA Allied Dental Scholarships

    • The American Dental Association provides education grants to dental hygiene students through the ADA Allied Dental Scholarship Program. ADA Allied Dental Scholarships are awarded in the amount of $1,000. In order to be eligible, a student must be taking a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester, and must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5. ADA Scholarship funds are used to pay for the cost of tuition, books, fees, or other educational expenses, and may not be used to pay for living expenses. Application deadlines vary by scholarship.     NDHA Scholarships

    • The National Dental Hygienists' Association provides educational grants to students enrolled at dental hygiene schools through its scholarship program. NDHA Scholarships are awarded in varying amounts according to situation. In order to be eligible, a student must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States and must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or better. Preference will be given to African American dental hygiene students. The annual deadline for application is March 15. Interested students should visit the NDHA website to download an electronic application.
