Scholarships for Postgraduate Degrees

Graduate school is expensive and students who receive scholarships for postgraduate degrees will ease the financial burden of tuition, books and lab fees. Students in graduate school who receive scholarships do not have to pay the money back but may have to maintain a certain grade point average or meet other criteria. Scholarships for postgraduate degrees may require students to major in a specific field or attend a certain university.
  1. Eileen J. Garret Scholarship

    • A scholarship award of $3,000 is given to selected applicants of the Eileen J. Garrett Scholarship Fund. Scholarship recipients must be studying parapsychology at their graduate school. Applicants must provide writing samples on parapsychology and three letters of reference. The scholarship is awarded annually.

    Dennis Raveling Scholarship

    • The California Waterfowl Association offers graduate students an opportunity to be awarded the Dennis Raveling Scholarship. Students must be studying wildlife, botany, zoology, ecology or a related biological major. Scholarship amounts vary according to academics and project merit. Scholarship recipients will be paid in four quarterly installments. Applicant requirements include a one-page proposal summary, resume, one letter of reference from a faculty member who agrees to sponsor the applicant and two letters of reference from instructors or employers.

    Measurement Science Conference Scholarship Program

    • The Measurement Science Conference scholarship program awards $2,000 to students majoring in engineering, quality assurance or a science. A committee selects students based on measurement science technology accomplishments. Applicant requirements include having completed at least five courses in a master's degree program and a grade point average of 3.2 or above. Selected students need to reapply each year for additional scholarship funds.

    Joe D. Simmons Memorial Scholarship

    • The Joe D. Simmons Memorial Scholarship is available to students who are studying measurement science or the application of metrology in manufacturing. Selected students will receive $3,000 to use for tuition, fees, books and other educational expenses. Applicants must have a minimum grade point average of 3.5 and strong recommendations from faculty members. Additionally, applicants must provide a list of past and future courses, school transcripts and an essay on the subject of metrology and quality concepts as well as future career goals.

    The Beinecke Scholarship

    • The Beinecke Scholarship gives graduate students in the arts, humanities or social sciences fields a total of $34,000. Students are selected based on nominations from their college or university. Applicants must be a junior in college and be able to show evidence of their need for financial assistance. Scholarship recipients may use the funds at any accredited school and may combine the award with other scholarships, fellowships and grants. The scholarship must be used within five years.
