State Farm makes scholarship money available to Ph.D. candidates through its Doctoral Dissertation awards. These research grants provide $10,000 each. To be eligible, a student must be a permanent resident or citizen of the United States, must be enrolled in a graduate-level degree program and must have started but not yet completed their dissertation. Furthermore, a student must be undertaking research in the fields of business, insurance and risk management, or education. The annual deadline for application is March 31. State Farm sponsors 20 National Merit Achievement Scholarships each year. National Merit Achievement Scholarships are one-time $2,500 non-renewable awards given to graduating high school seniors. They are awarded on the basis of a student's scores on the PSAT standardized test and academic record, personal qualities and leadership skills. Although State Farm provides money for these scholarships, State Farm is not involved in the selection process.
