State Farm Scholarships

The insurance company State Farm provides financial assistance to American college and university students through a variety of scholarship programs. The State Farm Companies Foundation only administers one scholarship directly. It also sponsors scholarships through other organizations, including the National Merit Scholarship Corporation and the Hispanic Scholarship Fund.
  1. State Farm Doctoral Dissertation Awards

    • State Farm makes scholarship money available to Ph.D. candidates through its Doctoral Dissertation awards. These research grants provide $10,000 each. To be eligible, a student must be a permanent resident or citizen of the United States, must be enrolled in a graduate-level degree program and must have started but not yet completed their dissertation. Furthermore, a student must be undertaking research in the fields of business, insurance and risk management, or education. The annual deadline for application is March 31. Interested students should visit the State Farm website to download an electronic application.

    National Merit Achievement Scholarships

    • State Farm sponsors 20 National Merit Achievement Scholarships each year. National Merit Achievement Scholarships are one-time $2,500 non-renewable awards given to graduating high school seniors. They are awarded on the basis of a student's scores on the PSAT standardized test and academic record, personal qualities and leadership skills. Although State Farm provides money for these scholarships, State Farm is not involved in the selection process. Interested students should contact their high school guidance counselor or visit the National Merit Scholarship Corporation website for more information.

    Hispanic Scholarship Fund

    • The State Farm Companies Foundation also provides 25 scholarships in the amount of $2,500 each to college students of Hispanic and Latino origin who are pursuing a career in teaching. To be eligible for Hispanic Scholarship Fund awards, a student must be enrolled full time, must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States, and must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0. The annual deadline for application is December 15. State Farm is not involved in the selection process for these scholarships. Interested students should visit the HSF website for more information.
