The Government Finance Officer's Association provides scholarships to part-time minority students who are pursuing a Ph.D. in an area of study related to public finance through the Minorities in Government Finance Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded annually in the amount of $5,000. To be eligible, a student must be a U.S. citizen or permanent U.S. resident, and must belong to one of the following ethnic minorities: African-American, Hispanic/Latino, Native American, Native Alaskan, Asian or Pacific Islander. Students must also be pursuing a degree in public administration, business administration, finance, political science, accounting or economics.

The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada provides scholarships to part-time Ph.D. candidates pursuing a degree in the natural sciences or engineering through the Industrial Postgraduate Scholarships Program. Both Canadian and international students attending school in Canada are eligible for support under this program. This scholarship provides up to $7,500 per year for up to six years to qualified students pursuing a Ph.D. on a part-time basis. To be eligible, a student must have a cumulative grade point average of at least an A-. There is no deadline for application. The University of Baltimore offers several scholarships to Ph.D. students who are pursuing their degree on a part-time basis. Part-time students attending the Merrick School of Business are eligible for the France Merrick Business Scholarship or the Henry A. Heinmuller Graduate Scholarship Fund if they have a grade point average of 3.75 or higher. Part-time Ph.D. candidates at the Yale Gordon College of Liberal Arts who have a grade point average of at least 3.75 are eligible for the Theodore and Helen Wilson Scholarship or the CLA Humanities Scholarship.
