A registration packet can be mailed to ACT to register for the ACT.
Registration packets can be obtained from the student's high school guidance counselor or the main office. The packet also can be requested from ACT directly via their website at: http://www.actstudent.org/forms/stud_req.html . Packets requested this way will arrive in 7 to 10 days.
Registration by mail is mandatory if the student requires special considerations. Special consideration may be given to students who are homebound or confined, have no testing center within 50 miles from home, or whose religious beliefs do not allow testing on Saturdays. Mail registration is mandatory for students under age 13 or who need to pay fees with check or money order.
Online registration is available at the ACT website.
1. Go to http://www.actstudent.org
2. Create an account or log in to an existing account
3. Click Registration on the menu under the ACT logo
4. Choose the "sign up online" option
5. Complete the application
Online registration is faster than the mail option and has the same fees. The student will know immediately if the preferred test center has seating available. The admission ticket can be printed from the website.
Online registration is required if the student plans to test at an international testing center.
Registration for the ACT college board exam can be completed by telephone only if the student has previously registered for an ACT exam.
The telephone number is (319) 337-1270 and is available between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., central time, Monday through Friday. During the summer, the hours are shortened to 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Callers should be prepared to supply their Social Security Number or ACT ID, preferred test date, preferred test option, and preferred test center location.
There is an additional $12.00 fee for this service.
Telephoning is an option for students who miss their preferred test or plan to retake the exam.
