Obtain a copy of the official ACT preparation guide, or download a free copy of "Preparing for the ACT" from the ACT Student website. You may also want to purchase other ACT preparation materials, such as practice tests and study guides.
Take the ACT practice tests included in the preparation material to determine what information you already know and what information you need to review and practice. Identify exactly what area of knowledge on which you need to focus your studying efforts.
Create a study plan and schedule that you can follow over the amount of time you have to prepare for the ACT. Devote at least 30 minutes per day to reviewing information and working with the study guide, increasing that amount of time as the test date comes closer. Set practice test dates for yourself to test yourself on the material.
Consider enrolling in an ACT preparation course if you feel that studying alone isn't the most helpful for you. Although ACT preparation courses can be expensive, you will receive individualized tutor attention that can help you focus on learning the information necessary for the ACT.
Prepare yourself physically for the test by getting enough sleep before the test day and eating a healthy breakfast. Arrive at the testing center on time and well rested, prepared to do your best work.
