How to Prep for an ATB Test

By obtaining a college degree, you can learn information and skills that you will have for the rest of your life. Yet, how can you get a college degree if you don't have a high school diploma or a GED? The answer is the Ability-To-Benefit test. Many colleges require prospective students to take the ATB test if the student does not have a high school degree. The test is broken down into three parts: reading comprehension, sentence skills and arithmetic. With practice and preparation, passing the ATB can be an achievable goal.

Instructions

Find practice tests online and offline. Many websites offer free sample ATB test questions. Review these questions well in advance of the test day so that you will be prepared.

    • 2

Seek out a tutor or join a study group. Contact your school or a local community college to see if the institution offers study sessions for each subject or any particular subject matter that you have not mastered. Many colleges have test preparation guides that could be helpful for ATB test prep, so call your school's admission's office.

Get plenty of rest the day before the ATB test. Do not try to cram new material the day before the test. The best approach to the ATB test prep is to take one hour a day to study the material listed in the three subject areas.

    • 4

Read each ATB test question closly the day of the test. Try to relax and don't panic. Although the test is timed, read each question twice to make sure you are fully aware of what is being asked of you.
