Day & Night Art Activities

Teach children about daytime and nighttime using art projects to demonstrate the difference between the two. These crafts will enhance understanding alongside an instructive curriculum.
  1. Art Ideas

    • Using bobby pins and a black or navy piece of construction paper, have the children poke holes through the paper, then use a flashlight so that the light shines through like starlight. Using a light blue piece of construction paper, have the children glue cotton balls onto the paper for the daytime sky. Have the children make 'telescopes' out of paper towel rolls and let them decorate the outsides and then have them look at the night sky through the telescope. Make a version of the night sky by making scratch art. Color an entire piece of paper with yellow crayon. Using black paint with a small amount of liquid soap, paint over the yellow crayon. When dry, have the children scratch the paint off to make stars and the moon. Have the children make puppets for the Sun and the Moon by taking two paper plates and gluing a craft stick to each one. Have the children color a Sun on one and a Moon on the other.
