Use a ruler and pencil to measure and mark a 6-inch wide and 6-inch long square piece of white felt fabric. Cut out the square and then use this as your template to make four other squares from white felt fabric.
Use a hole puncher to punch three holes in the left hand side of each white felt fabric square. Secure the book together by lining up the pages and running the yarn through each hole. Tie the yarn in a tight ribbon and make sure the book is held together nicely.
Use a shapes die cut hole puncher to create all sorts of shapes such as squares, circles and diamonds with various colors of green, red, pink, purple, blue, yellow and green felt fabric. Repeat this step and use other types of die cut punches to create fruit, flowers and vegetables. Any color of felt works for the standard shapes, but make sure to match up the right colors with specific foods or other shapes. For instance, use red felt to create the strawberry shape with the strawberry-shaped die cut punch. If you don't have shaped hole punches, you can also cut large shapes out by hand.
Use letter die cut punches to spell out the names of certain colors such as red, green, blue and purple. Use red felt to make the red letters and purple felt to create purple letters. The name should match up with the color.
Glue the letters for each color your decided to feature on each page of the book. You can start with blue and then work your way through the book. Glue all the blue shapes, flowers and other designs that you made with blue felt on the blue page. Each page should have an assortment of recognizable shapes and objects. Repeat these steps and add colors to each page. The white felt background helps the colors stand out.
Glue a rainbow of colorful felt objects on the cover so the child can get a sneak peak of what's inside.
