How to Make a Preschool Number Book

Many people find math to be a difficult and intimidating subject. Prepare your preschooler with the basics of numbers and counting, though, and your child will have a strong foundation for the skills and enthusiasm she needs to be successful. One creative way to teach and entertain your young student with math is to create a number book. Since your child helps you make the book, she will feel especially inspired to read it over and over with you, increasing her opportunities to learn.

Instructions

    • 1

Form a pile with all of the pieces of construction paper. Fold the pile in half lengthwise. Staple the crease three times so that the staples are an equal distance apart.

    • 2

Write a title on the front of the book, and let your preschooler draw a cover picture.

    • 3

Write "One" on the top of the first page. Draw an outline of the numeral 1 in the middle of the page. Let your preschooler color in the word and numeral or attach stickers inside of the outlines to fill them in. Attach one sticker or a picture of one object under the digit.

    • 4

Repeat for each of the remaining numbers from two to 10. Use the appropriate digit names and the number of stickers or pictures that corresponds to the number on each page.
