How to Cite the APA Reference Page for an Interview

Avoiding plagiarism means citing any work used to write your paper. When using the American Psychological Association (APA) style, citing an interview is done in text only if the interview is considered unrecoverable data. The citing in the reference page is needed when the interview is recoverable by website, audio file or transcript.

Instructions

    • 1

List the interviewer and interviewee last name first and first initial. Identify each with interviewer and interviewee in parentheses. Follow with the year in parentheses.

      Example: Smith, J. (Interviewer) & Jones, B. (Interviewee). (2011).

    • 2

Name the interview in italics. Specify the means of the interview in brackets.

      Nutrition Basics [Interview transcript].

    • 3

List where the interview was retrieved from and the URL if online.

Retrieved from United States Department of Health Website http://example.usdeptofhealth/nutritionbasics.htm
