A bean bag toss game is easy to play and simple to create. To make the bean bags, cut out two 5-inch squares from cotton fabric, and sew around the perimeter, leaving about 2 inches not sewn. Turn the square right side out. Pour dried beans or lentils inside the hole, and sew it closed. Make as many bean bags as you will need in order to have three bags per child. Cut out a 8-inch hole from a sheet of poster board or plywood, and color or paint the outside to look like a clown or lion's mouth. The preschoolers can take turns tossing the bean bag into the hole to win small token prizes.
Preschools enjoy playing Red Light Green Light, which is not only fun to play but can teach them how to listen to directions as well. To play, line up the preschoolers in a row. Instruct them that when you say, "Green Light!" they should walk towards you, and when you say, "Red Light!" they should stop. The children will have a blast trying to start and stop when they should. If they can't, they have to go back to the starting line. The first person reaching the other side might receive a token prize.
You do not need craft supplies in order to put on a whimsical puppet show with preschoolers. Simply draw a face onto each preschoolers fingers using washable markers, and draw on a bow tie, dress, mustache or eyelashes as accents. Children can place their fingers behind a table or a box to put on a fun finger puppet show.
