Indirect Air Carrier Security Training

An indirect air carrier is someone who does not possess a Federal Aviation Administration air carrier operating certificate and who engages indirectly in air transportation of goods using a passenger air carrier. There are a number of issues surrounding indirect air carrier security training.
  1. Topics

    • Training topics include how to identify "known" versus "unknown" shippers, the Shippers Security Endorsement, relevant documentation, required notification procedures and the responsibilities of employers of indirect air carrier security officers.

    Courses

    • Classes are typically one day in length and take approximately eight hours to complete. Classes are held in many large cities in the U.S. and throughout the world.

    TSA

    • The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is responsible for inspecting the operations of indirect air carrier security officers and ensuring they are compliant with all security requirements. Failure to comply is usually accompanied by large fines.
