How to Cite a Brochure for References

When writing research papers, academic reviews or journalistic style writings, it is important to cite your sources properly. Brochures and pamphlets have their own set of guidelines for correct citations within papers and research. When properly cited, your paper gains gravitas and credibility. The American Psychological Association's guidelines are used in many professional outlets.

Instructions

    • 1

Write down the title of the brochure followed by a period. Add the year of publication in parentheses, followed by a period.

    • 2

Set the word processor's font to italicized and type in the subtitle of the brochure. Use an underscore if the word processor has no italics setting. For example, if the brochure title is "Cruising the High Seas," and the subtitle is "Happy-Daze Cruises in the Aegean," and the brochure was published in 2004, it should read as: Cruising the High Seas. (2004). Happy-Daze Cruises in the Aegean. The last sentence is in italics, if possible, or with an underscore if not.

    • 3

Add the city and state where the brochure was produced. In brackets, add the form of reference --- in this case a brochure, followed with a period.

    • 4

Type the author's name last after all the other information. A final product should read like this: Cruising the High Seas. (2004). Happy-Daze Cruises in the Aegean. [Brochure]. Pacoima, CA. Frank Fuddyduddy.
