How to Install an Auto Burglar Alarm

Burglar alarm systems ensure the security of you and your property. Automobiles can be stolen or burglarized and there is often a need to secure them with alarms. The systems are available in auto parts stores at affordable prices. You can save money by installing the kit yourself in your driveway or garage.

Instructions

    • 1

Study your vehicle and the alarm diagram and determine what components of the car need to be hooked into your alarm system, such as the hood latch, door locks and trunk lock.

    • 2

Remove the panel under which the car wires are located with the screwdriver. Note which wires you will connect together and group them together by wrapping each bundle with electrical tape.

    • 3

Locate a good spot under the panel to mount your module by tying it and strapping it to a support brace. Connect the respective car wires to the alarm module terminals, which are clearly marked and represented on both the car and alarm diagrams. Splice the wires, then cover the naked wires with electrical tape.

Install the siren to the alarm system. The siren has positive and negative terminal wires, while the alarm unit has only a positive output terminal. Connect the positive siren wire to the unit and the other to the ground and mount the siren in the engine bay of the car. Drill a hole through the firewall for the siren wires to pass through and fasten the siren on the firewall. Replace the panel cover and screw it in firmly.
