Install a control panel for the alarm system. You probably already have a slot for fitting the control panel with wires sticking out of it. These lead out to all the other components of the system to join them to the control unit. Follow the instructions in the installation manual for the control panel. The wires are color-coded.
Connect each wire to its respective terminal on the panel as outlined in the manual then tighten the connection using a screwdriver. Fix the alert component, either a siren, flashing lights, or both, for the alarm system. You may also have slots or mounting frames already installed on walls near the ceiling with wires protruding. Refer to the manual to see where each wire connects.
Mount the sensor components in their intended slots. Refer to the installation manual once more for instructions on connecting the terminals. Tighten with a screwdriver.
Inspect all the windows and doors for contact points. These detect when a door or window is open when it shouldn't be. They resemble two coins with wires leading to the control panel. One is installed on the door or window; the other is fixed on the jamb. They come into contact when the door is closed to complete a circuit. Depending on your alarm system, the procedure of installing them might vary.
