How to Install a Classroom Projector

Classroom projectors transfer computer images onto a white screen, making them visible to the whole class. You can use them for presentations, to incorporate online resources into lessons or to help student's learn information-technology skills. If a projector is a permanent feature in a classroom, teachers usually mount it on the ceiling to reduce the distracting backlight given off by a free-standing projector and to keep it out of the way of inquisitive children.

Instructions

    • 1

Lower the white screen at the front of the classroom. Pull on a cord hanging from the middle of the screen or automatically lower it by pushing a button. Once installed, the projector beams images onto this screen. Ask a pupil to stand at the center of the screen.

    • 2

Ask the student to walk in a straight line from the center of the screen toward the back of the classroom. Have him stop one meter from the back of the classroom and mark the point with chalk. This is the installation point for the projector.

    • 3

Install the mounting bracket on the ceiling directly above the chalk mark. Use the screws provided with the bracket kit. Installing the projector at the back of the classroom allows you to run cables in place so they do not become a safety hazard.

    • 4

Slide the projector onto the side rails of the bracket. Make sure the beam of the projector is facing the screen. As the pupil to move back to the center of the screen. Adjust the center of the beam so it points directly at the pupil.

    • 5

Insert the supplied cable into the back of the projector using the connector. Put a cable loop on the wall at the back of the classroom to hold the wires in place. Insert the plug into the nearest power point.
