How to Set Up a Projector to Be Used in a Classroom

You are probably familiar with sitting in class and writing down notes from a projector from your days in school. The process of effectively setting up a projector is more involved than you would think, however. Your students must all have a clear view of the projected image for the lesson to be effective. The layout of your classroom dictates the freedom you have as far as placing your projector in the best location. Create an effective placement plan for your projector before the class begins to expedite the learning process.

Instructions

    • 1

Create an aisle running down the center of the desks in your classroom. The aisle is where you will place the projector.

    • 2

Locate the closest electrical outlet to the projector’s location. Ask the custodian for an extension cord if the cord of the projector cannot reach the projector itself.

    • 3

Turn on the projector after you place it in the aisle. Aim it towards the front of the room where you will keep the actual projection during class.

    • 4

Place an image on the projector so it can display it at the front of the room. Adjust the focus on the projector until the lines of the image are sharp and focused.

    • 5

Sit in each chair to find which seats have trouble viewing the front of the room. Relocate the desks you know will have trouble viewing the front of the room.

    • 6

Set a stool behind the projector so you can sit while you operate the machine.
