Tennessee Real Estate Schools

To become a real estate agent in Tennessee, you need to pass a licensing exam which includes questions about both state and national real estate practices. You also need to complete a New Affiliates course which prepares you to work for a broker.

Pre-licensing programs (60 hours), new affiliate programs (30 hours), transfer programs (for real estate agents licensed in other states), broker management courses and continuing education courses (16 hours every two years) are offered by both offline and online Tennessee real estate schools.

  1. Tennessee Real Estate and Comprehensive Sales School

    • The Tennessee Real Estate and Comprehensive Sales School (TRECS) is approved by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission and Workforce Investment Act program. The tuition fee for the 60-hour pre-licensing program covers the textbook, a state testing information handbook and other necessary supplies with the exception of a simple 10-key hand-held calculator.

      The school also offers the required 30-hour new affiliate training program which must be completed after the pre-licensing course. For both programs, you can choose the first training schedule which takes place during the day from Monday to Friday (8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.) or you can pick the second option to train from Monday to Friday in the evening (5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m) and Saturday (8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.). Broker management courses and continuing education courses are also offered.

    American School of Real Estate

    • The American School of Real Estate (since 1996) offers online real estate courses for Tennessee and was among the first ARELLO (Association of Real Estate License Law Officials) certified real estate schools to offer online real estate license courses. To attend classes, you must have a computer with high-speed Internet access, but no special programs or applications are required. You can access your courses 24 hours a day after registering. Online support is available around the clock. This program does not offer broker courses for the state of Tennessee.

    Proschools

    • The Proschools Tennessee online real estate school offers the pre-licensing course and the new affiliates course. Tuition does not include other required materials such as real estate flash cards, the Real Estate Handbook, the Qualifier Plus IIIfx real estate calculator or the book "Your Successful Real Estate Career".
