Visit the Pennsylvania Department of Education's website and select an online GED preparation class nearest you. Preparation classes are offered throughout the state and are conveniently sorted by each county in Pennsylvania.
Schedule and enroll in the five preparation courses separately. This will allow you to dedicate your studying to that subject and will improve your chances of passing the exam. The courses are designed to prepare you for taking the GED exam while increasing your confidence and helping you to identify your subject strengths and weaknesses. The library has books and tutorials that contain GED practice examinations that can also provide information on what to expect on the test.
Go to the Pennsylvania certified testing center's website and apply to take the five separate exams. The costs range between $55 and $75 for all five sections and many classes are offered for free. You are allowed to retest each section up to three times should you fail. The Pennsylvania GED requires a passing score of 410 or better on each of the required five sections, with a combined total score of 2,250 or greater.
Take and pass all the required five sections to receive your GED. Each test takes 45 to 80 minutes and the number of tests administered each session is determined by the individual center. After passing each test, request to receive your Pennsylvania GED diploma and transcripts. Mail a request for transcripts to Commonwealth Diploma Program, located at 333 Market Street, 12th Floor Harrisburg, PA 17126.
