Real estate applicants are required to complete 63 hours of training before taking the Florida real estate licensing exam. The training can be done at schools in Hollywood or through distance-learning classes online.
The Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation's Real Estate Division administers educational training and keeps an updated list of approved schools on its website (see Resources). As of October 2010, several schools in Hollywood provided training, in addition to distance-learning options.
Payment for real estate training is required before classes begin. As of October 2010, the cost of training, sitting for the exam, fingerprinting and other licensing fees was about $500.
New real estate agents must complete an additional 45 hours of training within a year of receiving their license. After that, agents must receive 14 hours of continuing education every two years for license renewal.
